We are always looking to supply what our community is interested in. Let us know in our Discord’s “Product Request Channel” if you are interested in non-listed miniature games.
We typically test new miniature lines when they release in our Duluth location, so keep an eye out when shopping!

New Players Welcome!
Step 1: Pick your Game(s)
Explain the differences, but focus on how both share a lot of the same community. Sci-fi vs fantasy, melee vs range combat, etc.
Step 2: Assemble the Troops!
Both Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar have two-player starter boxes with enough models for you and a buddy to sample the game in terms of building, painting, and playing.
Both systems have lower-point game modes using their respective beginner boxes. For 40k, look out for “Combat Patrol” boxes and “Spearhead” boxes for Age of Sigmar (Vanguard boxes also work as it’s just the old name for Spearhead).
We recommend these as you can play a game with them, they are a solid base for a full army collection, and offer a variety of model types to build and paint!
Step 3: Gear Up!
Plastic Glue/Adhesives: Specifically designed for bonding plastic model parts. Brands like Citadel Plastic Glue or Tamiya Extra Thin Cement are popular choices.
DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE TO PUT YOUR PIECES TOGETHER!!!
Sprue Cutters (or Hobby Clippers): For cleanly removing plastic model parts from the sprue (the plastic frame they come attached to).
Hobby Knife (with safety cap): For cleaning up mold lines
Painting Handle: Great for easily maneuvering your model to get to those hard-to-reach places. Keeps your hand comfortable during long paint sessions
Primer: An undercoat spray that helps paint adhere to the plastic and provides a uniform base color. Ask our staff which one pairs well with your army’s colors when you stop in!
Acrylic Paints: A set of basic acrylic paints suitable for miniatures. A good starting set might include:
A few base colors relevant to your chosen army.
Metallic paints for any weapons or bobbles
A black wash, like Nuln Oil, or brown wash, like Agrax Earthshade, for adding depth and shadow to your models.
A few highlight colors. For a beginner, we recommend a highlight color for each of your primary colors. For example, a light green to complement your forest green Space Marine armor basecoat.
Paint Brushes: A small selection of synthetic brushes designed for miniature painting. The Army Painter’s “Most Wanted” set is recommended as it comes with:
A detail brush (small, pointed tip for fine details).
A basecoat brush (larger, for covering larger areas).
A drybrush (stiffer bristles for the drybrushing technique).
Water Pot: For rinsing your brushes. We suggest one for metallic paints and one for others!
Hobby Mat: To protect your work surface from spills and paint.
Palette: A surface to put your paints on while you're working. A wet palette (which keeps paints moist for longer) is a good option.
As you get more experience in the hobby, you can always add more tools, paints, and techniques once you are comfortable with the basics! We have plenty of people in our Discord with advice on how to take your hobby to the next level.
